Dear all,

Gudhi Padwa/Ugadi/Vishu/Baisakhi/Bihu (Hindu New year) wishes to you all. On this auspicious and beautiful occasion, we wanted to start our blogspot as a space for everyone of us to express and share our learnings, experiences, feedback with regard to our new initiative, our new project called 'CREATED Learning Space'. However, before we do that, it is very much necessary for all of us to know what is 'CREATED Learning Space' basically 😊

So, let us ourselves start with our first blog, where we wanted to share our thoughts and inspiration behind initiating our vision project recently. We are a team of curious and enthusiastic parents (first) and then engineers turned school psychologists turned entrepreneurs (later). We (Pranjali Kothavade and Kishore Gaikwad) are the co-founders of CREATED Learning Space.

Pranjali has done M.Tech. in Electrical engineering, who worked as an Assistant Professor with Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College, Aurangabad for close to 8 years. She has also been passionately teaching academic subjects to children of primary and secondary school since a few years.

Kishore has done M.Tech. in Manufacturing engineering and has worked close to 19 years with multi-national companies like John Deere and Dana Spicer at various roles of responsibilities from engineer to senior manager. He too is equally passionate for teaching and facilitating.

We both know each other as family friends since a few years and now we have come together with a common vision and purpose to work in the area of child education and development. Since, we both are passionate to work in this area, we have recently started pursuing PG Diploma in School Psychology from Jnana Prabodhini Institute of Psychology affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University knowing that child and school psychology are foundations to work with children.

As mentioned earlier, since we both are parents first, we have been working with our children in their holistic development as aware parents. We also have been participating in to relevant and important parenting and child development related courses and workshops only to equip ourselves with the abilities to work for children 😊. We also have been collecting, buying a lot of learning specific toys, puzzles, kits for ourselves and our children. Now, we want to extend what we have learnt through this process of development to everyone.

So coming back to the topic,

What is Learning Space?

The Wikipedia answer is- Learning space or learning setting refers to a physical setting for a learning environment, a place in which teaching and learning (for both child and facilitators too) occur. The term is commonly used as a more definitive alternative to "classroom," but it may also refer to an indoor or outdoor location, either actual or virtual. Learning spaces are highly diverse in use, learning styles, configuration, location, and educational institution. They support a variety of pedagogies, including quiet study, passive or active learning, kinesthetic or physical learning, vocational learning, experiential learning, and others.

Then what is CREATED Learning Space?

The name CREATED itself has been creatively and thoughtfully thought 😊. It is a space created for everyone to learn and get educated creatively.

Now, the purpose our Learning Space:

The theme of our learning space is- Explore, learn and create. We believe, every child is curious to learn. We allow every child to explore by himself to learn and thereby enhance their creativity. We also nurture and nourish their imagination and intelligence. In this process, we are just here to facilitate the child to experience the joy of learning and understand the academic concepts with hands on activities. The purpose is also to let them lead their learning to the life and vocational skills.

What is going to be our Learning Method

We are going to have a blend of learning mechanisms and pedagogies in our learning space. The blended learning model consists of 3Es- Explore, Exposure and Experience. This curriculum is going to be line with NEP 2020 (New Education Policy) framed by the Government of India. More details on this in upcoming blogs and posts. However, just to give you a glance of what it means to us is- facilitating conceptual and self-directed learning through hands-on experience, kits, activities, puzzles, games and connect this with learning vocational skills through makers/tinkering labs. The child will learn his academic subjects through these mechanisms.

Currently, we are in a process of making all parents and children aware of our learning model and also what kind of educational and brain games help in child development. We are also selling these toys, games, puzzles and developing our own games, kits, etc. as per your child's requirement. Till the time we come up with our physical learning space, we will be conducting some sessions online and through some workshops.
